Treatment for C-PTSD and Childhood Trauma
I am dedicated to helping individuals who strive for perfection, possess deep emotional sensitivity, have a keen ability to perceive the emotions and needs of others, and grapple with overthinking and anxiety. Despite their best efforts, these individuals often find themselves feeling isolated, overwhelmed and misunderstood.
In my therapy practice, my clients gain greater self-awareness, build confidence in their relationships, and cultivate optimism for the future. My goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for individuals to explore their emotions and experiences, leading to personal growth and fulfillment. Together, we will embark on a journey towards greater understanding and well-being.
I can help with:
Therapy for Adult Children of Emotionally Immature, Narcissistic or Addicted Parents
Many adults may come to realize that emotionally immature, narcisstic or addicted parents raised them. This discovery can lead to other realizations, including understanding the impact of traumatic experiences on their lives and relationships.
It's not uncommon for individuals to only realize later in life that one or both of their parents were emotionally immature or narcissistic. The effects of these relationships may not be immediately apparent. Still, they can result in tendencies towards codependent or self-sacrificial relationships, low self-esteem, neglect of personal needs, and memories of neglect and emotional abuse.
No one is perfect, including parents, but adults have the opportunity to work toward becoming confident, independent, and autonomous individuals. This process involves accepting their parents for themselves while establishing healthy boundaries in personal relationships.
This newfound awareness can lead to a transformation in how individuals navigate their relationships. They are more likely to assert themselves, uphold their values, and break free from unhealthy relationship patterns.
Recovery from years of emotional abuse and gaslighting is possible. By embracing healthy assertiveness, self-expression, and personal growth, individuals can evolve into the healthy, wise, and confident beings they have always aspired to be.
It is time to break free from a legacy of trauma and shame.
Complex PTSD Treatment and Therapy for Childhood Trauma
Complex PTSD, also known as C-PTSD, is a type of post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from prolonged exposure to traumatic events, often during childhood. Unlike typical PTSD, which is usually triggered by a single traumatic event, C-PTSD is characterized by repeated trauma over an extended period of time. This can include experiences such as childhood abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and narcissistic abuse. Individuals with C-PTSD often exhibit symptoms beyond those seen in traditional PTSD, such as difficulties with emotional regulation, self-perception issues, distorted beliefs about oneself and the world, challenges in forming and maintaining relationships, and a heightened sense of vigilance and hypervigilance.
Psychotherapy modalities commonly used to treat Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) encompass a variety of techniques aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals with this condition.
One key aspect of treatment involves Emotional Regulation. Many individuals with C-PTSD struggle with intense emotions, mood swings, and difficulties in regulating their emotions. I work closely with clients to identify triggers, develop coping strategies, and enhance emotional regulation skills.
Another important focus is on Self-Esteem and Self-Compassion. C-PTSD often leads to negative self-perceptions and low self-esteem. Through psychotherapy, individuals can challenge self-criticism, cultivate self-compassion, and foster a more positive self-image.
Boundary Setting is also a crucial component of treatment. Many individuals with C-PTSD struggle with establishing healthy boundaries in relationships. I can help clients understand their boundaries, assertively communicate them, and maintain healthy interpersonal dynamics.
Interpersonal Effectiveness is emphasized in therapy to improve communication skills and reduce relationship conflicts. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is one approach that focuses on enhancing interpersonal Effectiveness.
Processing Traumatic Memories is a crucial aspect of therapy, where individuals work through traumatic memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and Clinical Hypnotherapy help individuals desensitize to traumatic stimuli and integrate fragmented memories.
Safety and Coping Strategies are developed in therapy to help clients manage symptoms, reduce the risk of self-harm, and effectively handle emotional crises.
Ultimately, the goal of psychotherapy for C-PTSD is to help individuals integrate their traumatic experiences into their life narratives, fostering a sense of healing and growth.

Starting therapy often comes during challenging times when our usual coping mechanisms fail, or when we realize the value of consistent support. It takes courage to seek help, and your commitment is greatly appreciated. By dedicating your time, mental and emotional energy, and financial resources to our journey, you are taking an important step toward self-improvement.
To begin our journey together, I am delighted to offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals. If we determine that we are a good match, we can schedule a session. I understand the significance of finding the right therapist, which is why I am committed to providing a few sessions for you to experience my integrative and holistic approach. This will allow you to determine if I am the right fit for your needs. If not, I am more than willing to help you find a therapist who is.
We will initially meet at least weekly as we establish our relationship and create your personalized healing plan. Therapy sessions typically last 50-55 minutes, with the option of 75 or 90-minute sessions for more intensive needs. Clients I work with are expected to provide a 24-hour cancellation notice. For our work to be effective, I require weekly appointments. This consistency is crucial for maintaining the momentum of our progress and enables me to follow up on any tasks assigned during our sessions.
As we make progress, we may transition to bi-weekly sessions until you feel prepared to conclude our work. It is important to recognize that therapy is a journey, and many clients continue for extended periods to address various issues that may be holding them back from reaching their full potential.
Some clients may also benefit from techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy used to process traumatic memories, Hypnotherapy, a therapy that uses guided relaxation and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness, or Brainspotting, a therapy that helps access and process unresolved trauma, negative emotions, and somatic (body) symptoms. The ultimate aim is for you to leave therapy feeling grounded and empowered to navigate your life and relationships with confidence.
